Biography

Welcome to my blog. This is (obviously) a personal blog about what's going on in my life, my interests and how I feel about those things. You'll probably never find me talking about politics/current political events...because I abhor politics. I don't have strong opinions on issues...in fact, I very rarely have strong opinions on anything! I can usually see both sides of an issue. I generally try and stay tolerant of anyone's beliefs. You'll probably very rarely see me comment on religion. Although you might...I am a bible-reading, Jesus is savior believing, church attending Christian (albeit "closet Christian"). I very rarely share my religious beliefs unprovoked -- they are very personal and meaningful to me and I understand not everyone wants "others' religious beliefs" shoved in their faces. But you should know that this is one of my perspectives in life.

Another big part of my life are my two Bengal cats -- Jonah and Finn. I sometimes may simply refer to them as "the boys". They are very demanding, high maintenance cats. My roommate thinks they have attention deficit disorder (ADD), and if cats can have such a thing, I would agree. They aggravate me to no end sometimes...but they also bring me so much love and joy and happiness. Pets/animals and animal health care/animal welfare is a huge passion of mine and hope one day to be involved more intimately in these areas.

I'm 26 and still trying to discover what I "want to do with my life" -- which career aligns best with my interests and talents! I thought I had it all figured out in high school and college. But once I graduated college, I realized, I had really had no idea. Which brings me to my thoughts on my "job" -- since everyone seems to be ever so interested in "what you do" and "how's work going". Let me just say, that I think of my job as a job, by no means a "career". It's most times boring, not at all challenging, and I generally have loads of free/not so productive time so I'll primarily blog from work. But I enjoy my co-workers and it pays my bills while allowing me some extra to have some fun and enjoy life's pleasures!

I graduated college in 2000 with a Bachelor's Degree in Linguistics. It was my intention to move forward and get my Master's Degree in Teaching English as a Second/Othler Language (TESOL), but my last semester, when I was in classes geared for teacher's prep, I realized that I didn't really want to teach. I love learning about language and all things language, language-learning related (phonetics/phonology was my most favorite aspect of linguistics) but discovered that love of a subject alone does not necessarily bode well for the dedication of teaching. And so here I am now, trying to figure out what's next and when.

I'm single, but dating a great guy who I love spending time with and getting to know better every day. We've been dating for 1.5 years now. He recently had to move back "home" to Hawaii, so right now we're long distance. We hope he'll be back "home" with me sometime soon! I can't yet say what the future holds for both of us. I do hope to be married someday in the not so distant future...but for now, I'm enjoying discovering more about who I am and growing, strengthening and deeping my relationship with God during this single life.

I currently reside in northern California, more specifically "Silicon Valley". I've lived in the San Francisco Bay Area all my life -- the South Bay (San Jose/Morgan Hill), North Bay (Sonoma County), San Francisco and the Peninsula. I love living here...couldn't imagine living anywhere else (though it would be nice to live someplace where I could afford to own a home some day!).

My other interests and activities that I'm sure to blog about are love of the nature and outdoors and outdoor related activities, mountain biking, hiking, camping, rollerblading. I also enjoy watching movies of all sorts. The only TV Show I try and watch faithfully every week is Smallville. My other favorite is Friends (I think most everything in life can be related back to an episode in Friends). A perfect day for me would entail a long hike (or other fairly strenous outdoor activity) followed by snuggling up on the couch watching a movie or playing with "the boys". I also LOVE to travel, and have been fortunate enough to travel to Europe 3 times and also to Australia.

Perhaps also noteworthy is that my Myers-Briggs personality type is INFJ. Only a very small percentage of the population is defined by this type (from 1-3% -- different sources have different percentages). Everything I've read about this type suits absolutely perfectly!
