On Memorial Day -- which I most thankfully, had off -- Matthew and I decided to go on a hike. It'd been awhile since we've had a day hike, and amazingly enough, we woke at a decent hour and got a move on and ended up at Forest of Nisene State Park in Aptos (near Santa Cruz). It was a perfect day for a hike, and the trail was beautiful. At one point, since I wanted to walk along the creek and get my feet wet, Matthew scaled down the high cliff on some fallen Redwood trees. I earned my "penis" for the day and followed him down, even though I was scared to death. I took off my shoes and socks and had a great time walking in the creek. In hindsight, we really should have packed a lunch. There was this one spot along the creek that was so beautiful and serene, it would have made for the perfect picnic. Next time, though. And I do want to come back and hike to the epicenter for the 1989 Loma Prieta Earthquake.
Enjoy the photos!
